Space for "Glamping" is available in the outer walled gardens, where you can also place a marquee.
Shillingstone House is the family home of Sir Michael and Lady Caroline Salt. Set in thirty acres of stunning Dorset countryside, in a secluded world of its own, this is the perfect place for a truly individual, beautiful wedding or event.
The House which dates back to 1879 was originally a Portman Family house but has been lived in since the war by the Salt family. Designed by a Scottish Architect it provides a wonderful backdrop for photographs and the house and gardens are spectacular when floodlit at night.
The Dining room of Shillingstone House is licensed for Civil Ceremonies. It provides a truly memorable place to get married with seating for up to 30 guests. French windows open onto the lawn outside where a marquee can be placed to accommodate numbers over this.
Alternatively you may wish to have an outside ceremony in the gazebo. Here you can seat several hundred on the lawn and the gazebo can be incorporated in a marquee if you wish. The gazebo is planted with roses, honeysuckle and clematis, and is set in beautiful gardens with uninterrupted views of the countryside beyond.
If you are looking for that perfect country house wedding, Civil Ceremony or special event then Shillingstone House promises a venue to remember forever. The local area is rich in caterers, photographers, florists etc, ready to make your day even more special.
